Rules of the Game

Games in my family are more than just spending time with one another. They are there for us to find new rules that apparently were needed, but somehow were omitted by the original makers of the game.

For example:

  • Monopoly – You’re not allowed to donate property to ‘Free Parking.’
  • Risk – If you bump the board at all you automatically lose (even if none of the little armies move.)
  • Charades – You can’t be ‘the fireman’s dog’s vet’s cousin’s little sister’s cat,’ etc.
  • Pillow Death Match – You can’t tag for a time-out and have a stunt double take your place.
  • Hide and Seek – You can’t volunteer to count to 50 and then start reading a book instead.
  • any game with die – If it falls off the board/box/wherever the designated place to roll die, it doesn’t count and you get an automatic zero.
  • any game – Before modified rules can be used in a game, they have to be explained clearly and all parties have to agree. (Any rule not in the printed booklet/pamphlet that came with the game or found online is a modified rule.)

When playing, it is fine to play as mercilessly as possible, but always remember that it is just a game and trash talking is not allowed. Be courteous and polite while winning, it makes it more annoying.

There’s more, but I’m too tired to write anymore.
