Communication? What is that?

Coming home from a long day of work,
Oh! Don’t forget that we have dinner plans!
Massive amounts of panic when finding out,
Maybe this ruin could have been avoided if the others had known?
Ultimately, we’re going to be late, but go we must.
Now don’t strain yourself too hard,
I don’t want you to overdo it and call over.
Come now, what do you take me for?
A child who doesn’t know how to keep an eye on themselves?
That wasn’t how I mean it, but now that you’ve said it…
I am going to pretend that you didn’t say that.
Oh don’t be such a baby! You’re fine!
Now are we going to continue this or get going?
I wouldn’t have let them go if you had let me now that there were plans in the making. This is why we need to have communication, woman!

Written for the Three Word Wednesday prompt that I’m trying out: http://www.threewordwednesday.com/2014/05/3ww-ccclxix.html

Also, this is a conversation that I had with one of my sisters a few days ago when she came home from work and asked where the kids were. I’d let them go to another sister’s house earlier when their housework and homework was done (and another went to a church activity). She was like, “Why did you let them go? We were having dinner at David’s!” She had, of course, forgotten to let me know that or put it on the calendar. We made it, but we were late. Our brother-in-law was fine with that and we had a good evening anyway. There was food we were able to bring back for the others and we managed to get home about the same time as them anyway, so it all worked out in the end.
