It was a crisp morning, cold enough to encourage a swift walk and yet warm enough to not need that sweater. The two continued down the road, making sure to walk closer together whenever a car passed. There were precious few moments when words were needed and so they continued in companionable silence most of the way there and back again.
The young woman smiled down at the large dog trotting next to her, “I’m glad you’re here to take me on walks every morning.”
I’m grateful for my new walking buddy this week, for without her, I’d sit at home and read all day and get no exercise.
Make sure to read the original Thankful Thursday as well!
They are wonderful companions…enjoy the walks. 🙂

What a nice post! Funny, today I looked at a photo of Desirée on my fridge door…my mini schnauzer I had 13 years…she was my companion for a long time…my best walking companion and excuse for my talking out loud to myself…folks just thought I was talking to Dez:)

I often talk with my animal family members that have also passed on.

That is so sweet…Dez visited me the first few months in my dreams…such vivid dreams too, sleeping at my feet like she always did.

Yeah. I haven’t really had a walking companion to walk with when I could walk since I was in elementary school.

When I was still at the family home I used to be awoken at 6 AM by the dog and we would go walking before the sun came up. It was funny looking at a white dog against a dark background.

Our dogs have always been later risers than us. I had a cat (who was also white, go figure) who would wake me every morning about that time too by chewing on my feet. No matter how I buried them, he’d dig them out. Was never late to school those years.
