Love is being just unable to reach the gingerbread cookies and instead of your teen nephew watching and laughing, he reaches out and grabs you one so you don’t knock the kitten off your lap trying to reach them.

Warm and Sick – Thankful Thursday
I’ve had the flu for about a week and a half (this is the first time in several years that I have had it…) My nephew today made me some tea, because I kept forgetting about it after setting the kettle to boil (it’s an electric kettle, that’s why it was easy to forget). He also made some peanut butter cookies and brought me some. That last is partially because he’s been wanting cookies for a week and I’ve been too sick to make them and partially because they were dry, so I could eat them and keep them down, but also with peanut butter so that there was some nutrition with them as well.
I’m grateful for his kindness today as I just feel crummy.
(He also tucked me in with extra blankets so that I’m actually warm.)

Cookie – Random Snippet
“He got some more GS cookies.”
“What does GS stand for?”
“Good Stuff.”
This was a conversation that happened as my sister was trying to stealthily tell me that her husband bought a bunch of Girl Scout cookies (that disappear really fast at our place…and theirs…) without letting my nephews know. It wasn’t until afterwards that she realized that the initials lined up. She’s pretty good at humor-on-accident like that.
Cookie – Thankful Thursday
Today I am grateful for fortune cookies and the hilarity that they can bring to your life. I got one once, right after I graduated high school, that said I was going on a long vacation. Spent the next two years kind of drifting as I recovered my health from fitting two years of high school into one while having horrible migraines every day and not being able to miss school if I wanted to walk with my class.
I am a very stubborn person when I want to be, by the way.
That fortune cookie is one of the things I like to look back at and laugh about even though I didn’t find it very funny at the time.
