It Still Exists

Don’t you dare give up
Remember where you’re from
Even the children of maids and janitors
All can achieve their goals
My life now is vastly different

I’ve read and heard that it is impossible in our day and age to climb out of poverty and up into first the lower class and then the middle class, but we are proof that it isn’t impossible.

It takes more than just luck, but more than just hard work. It takes faith and belief that it is possible in the first place and then work and, yes, some luck. It takes help and not being afraid to ask for help and it takes scary moments where you have to step off of assistance and faith that you won’t immediately collapse.

Just don’t give up. Don’t you dare.

Breathing Through A Dream

Don’t give up on what you feel in your bones

Remember that it helps you to breathe

Even when you’re bruised and broken

A moment with this is more than enough

Maybe that vision is who you really are

If only you let yourself dream you’d learn that you can still breathe

Stay Calm…You’re Only Burning – Poetry Prompt #12

My but how it all changes in an instant.
Onward and upward, I cry!
My wingbeats are frantic as I know I’m running out of time.
Even as I pull ahead of the oncoming borde, their fire projectiles strike.
Never will I forget the smell of burnt feathers and the pain in non-existant limbs.
The sweat had plastered my hair to my face as I thump painfully onto the floor.
I don’t know why they thought I was a demon…
“What if we had ideas that could think for themselves? What if one day our dreams no longer needed us? When these things occur and are held to be true, the time will be upon us. The Time of Angels.”
-from Doctor Who

Written based off of a snippet of an old dream I had often back in middle and high school. Sometimes I can still feel the pain of arrows piercing limbs that I don’t even have…
