Waiting is Agony

Listening and not being able to near

As doing so simply causes more distress

Being able to do nothing but wait, can’t even pace

Only hoping that the time will fly

Remembering and shaking head at laughing at others in this state.

One of our goats is in the early (very early) stages of giving birth to her long awaited kids and I am suddenly understanding just why many fathers need to have something to do to take their minds off of being useless in the buildup. I can’t even stay close and try and soothe Belle as she’s too jumpy at the moment. I’m the only one at home while the others have to run errands and go to appointments at the moment so I can’t even really work on anything. Just in case I’m needed I need to be able to snap to it and I can’t work in the garden because I might not have the time to clean up if something goes wrong.

I will never mock expectant fathers again.

No. I probably will. I’m like that.

Kids – Thankful Thursday

This week I am thankful for the new little goats that we have. There are four and they are adorable and I would include pictures but my phone broke and I haven’t gotten the replacement to work for the pictures just yet. I will get some up as soon as I can.

Check out the original Thankful Thursday. (I will update link when able.)

EDIT: Link updated as of July 17, 2015.

Drained

Don’t rightly know how this is happenin’

Really wondering if it could be from the rainin’

At least the cool breeze is enough to let slide

Into the peaceful wondering I do glide.

Not going to worry at all

Even should the sky look like it’ll fall.

Don’t fight as my energy goes into withdrawal.

Ended up putting up some kind of fencing to keep the goats in their pen last night and ended up with some slight morning paralysis today. I can move about by the middle of the day (which is when I’m writing), but I can feel the effects of staying up almost to midnight trying to get the fencing up.

At least the lilac bushes have some time to recover now.

Goats, Man

So…we got goats.

We had a space cleared in the garage cum barn ‘just in case’ something opened up, but we didn’t really expect anything to happen.

And then we got goats.

Julia called me up one day, middle of the day and asked me if I had checked the mail. We’d been waiting for a return from the deposit from the duplex and when I walked over to the post office (that’s on the next street over) and checked it had finally come. When I called Julia back and told her, asking why she’d called so randomly about it her reply surprised me.

“There’s an ad on KSL for goats.”

The deposit money was enough to get two of them, but the family (who are wonderful people) were moving out of state and unable to take their three goats and we were the only ones who’d called (I think, I don’t actually know if anyone else had called, but there must have been a reason) and so they offered the last goat, a buck, for half of the original price.

So now we have three goats, a buck and two does.

I have no idea what I’m doing, people.
