Actually…

Love is being just unable to reach the gingerbread cookies and instead of your teen nephew watching and laughing, he reaches out and grabs you one so you don’t knock the kitten off your lap trying to reach them.

We Had a Little Life – Thankful Thursday

We had a little life

Given to us from on high

A little, furry life

So small and black

We had a little life

Given to us from on high

That hissed and scratched

So fierce and burning bright

We had a little life

Given to us from on high

So fragile and small

Struggling to live each day

We had a little life

Given to us from on high

We had a little life

Who went back home to the sky

Little Shadow passed away. He wouldn’t eat, wouldn’t drink. He hurt so much all the time. He just lay down and though we tried to feed him through the eyedropper once more, he would not. We had him for such a short time and I am forever grateful for his fierce little life with us. By the time this post goes up, it will have been two months to the day since he passed on. His life was a miracle for he lived longer than he should have after his accident and for the month or so after the accident he was happy and playful before he suddenly wasn’t.

Cherish the time that you have, you don’t know how long it will be. Hold close the ones you love and tell them, in actions and in words, just how much they mean to you.

Check out the original Thankful Thursday. (Will update link when able.)

Dust Bunny, Hop Hop – Poetry Prompt 14

Dirt will puff with the lightest of touch
Unless of course the scent comes out
So don’t complain when by she will slouch
There really is no need to shout.

Because she will rub up against you
Until you smell as dusty and she does.
Next her mother will come on around,
Necessary it will be, for she will tongue bath you.
Yes she will try to reach all around, but still you’ll smell dusty.

Written for another of Pooky’s poetry prompts: http://pookypoetry.wordpress.com/2014/05/14/poetry-prompt-14-describe-a-smell/

My cat’s name is Usako, which means baby bunny, as she had rather large ears as a kitten would spend most of her time jumping around. As an adult, she likes to roll around in the dry dirt out back and then come in. It’s not always easy to tell when she’s done this as she’s a grey and orange and white cat. (She’s mostly grey.) So, she’s my little ‘dust bunny.’
