Forest Revere

A moment alone
In a forest of one
Brings clarity
Clears rebellion.

The wind in the trees
Whisper softly to me
Of secrets
And gentle reminders.

They tell me I’m not alone
Though no one I see
Because Someone
Is always walking with me.

The birds chirp loudly
And fly over head
Startling me
out of revere.

I look to the sky
Notice clouds that drift by
Painted the colors
Of the sun’s slowing death.

Yet I am reminded
It is not a permanent one
Because I know
That was changed by Someone.

Prove it?
No,
I’m happy
As is.

The second picture is one I’ve manipulated a bit because I couldn’t find any of my sunset pictures.

Maniac Running – Poetry Prompt #10

He runs and runs fast.
Maniac many call him.
Finally finds home.

Took me a moment to think about it, but when I did I chose Mania Magee by Jerry Spinelli. It’s a book that one of my elder sisters first read to me when I was learning how to read chapter books way back in early elementary school. I have since read it every single year that I was in public schooling and the first few years of college.

Friday Afternoon

It’s warm today, a sunlit room
My day has slowly gone.
I’ve watched few things
Begin and end:
Shows and movies and books on file,
Nothing really seems worthwhile.

Children arrive stumbling through the door,
School’s out and now I’m in for more.
Screaming and fighting,
They’re too excited for the week to end.
I’m through with this!
They’ll drive me ’round the bend!

Watching them buzz,
Around and Around,
How do they keep going and going?
Where does the reservoir end?
Trying to direct them is half the task,
The other is keeping on the patient mask.

I must shake my head at myself,
Listening to off key singing is far too amusing.
Lyrics parroted back still  in keeping with the beat,
The other doing a credible imitation of rap on the street.
My kitty, so soft and sweet, climbs up on my lap,
Making sure to bump my face and give me my love tap.

A knock on the door receives not a single surprise,
A friend wants to play with very hopeful eyes.
Except works not yet done,
Just a little bit left to do.
Somehow I don’t think I’ll make it through,
Just a little bit more to do…

Sacrifice Acceptable

Picture from: http://foter.com/photo/or/

Study, work, never any rest. Oh for the days when sunlight was all I needed! Now I am mortal, fragile and perfect. There is a chance at life ahead of me. Sacrifice acceptable.

Written for this week’s Trifextra. I made sure that this week was a 33-word challenge. Last week I thought it was and it drove me mad only to discover I’d mixed things up! laughs
