This was how my newest brother-in-law asked my youngest sister to marry him almost a year and a half ago. He took her to where they met, our elementary school, and they walked around it reminiscing while his sister quickly set this up on a chair near where we would all leave the school to walk home together.
He had promised her a cookie a few weeks earlier when she’d been craving them.
After opening the box and seeing this, she turned around to find him down on one knee.
It wasn’t easy to find, certainly wasn’t easy to procure, but once he’d seen it, he knew that it was the one. He’d planned the date perfectly, stroll through some nearby trees, picnic on a hill during a sunrise (her favorite time of day besides the stars after sunset) now all he had to do was pop the question.
He was nervous that was for sure. What if she didn’t say yes? What if she did say yes?
He needn’t have worried. The look in her eyes and tremulous smile on her lips told him all he needed to know.
She was surprised,
Unfolding before her was a
Picture pops and
I find it was random.
So I know it was magical,
Even the occasion needed it.
Random act of God?
Random act of kindness?
Inclement weather will not stop,
Because it didn’t go according to plan.
It was wonderful for it.
