Body Tackling Online

Do you ever find yourself randomly ‘strolling’ through a portion of the internet (just about anywhere) reading little bits of this and that when suddenly BAM!

Story ideas assault you!

And it’s not just that they hit you.

Oh, no.

They full out body tackle you to the ground and start punching and kicking you, bashing your head against the ground.

You have absolutely no idea how you’re still aware enough to realize that there are several story ideas, for different stories, that have teamed up to take you out of commission.

(Have just realized that maybe I anthropomorphize my stories too much…)

BAM! Out of Nowhere

Have you ever been walking along, la-dee-da, everything’s going fine when-

You’re hit with this long complicated scene for either a story you’ve had going for a while or one that you didn’t even know was percolating in the back of your head.

And here’s me walking the dog with no notebook in sight and at least half an hour (if I’m lucky) before I’ll be home.

Don’t Hop Here!

Please oh please go away!
Listen to me for once!
Or maybe you could just stop coming?
There isn’t enough time in the day!
Best that you will get is a few scratches of lines
Until I have more time.
Not going to take over my life!
Not going to rule my mind!
Yet you keep coming…

This is how I often feel whenever I’m just doing something, some random thing, and a story pops out of nowhere and runs off with whatever I was doing at the moment.

Finally I have found my place
Or has it found me?
Reading and writing have ever been my escape.
What are you selling?
Silently, yet with presence, words have come.
Another day has come and gone
Little did I know that this is what would be done.
Even should I only have a piece of paper and a pen.
Well, what are you buying?
For often it is only for a little while;
Only for today will I use this.
Ready or not, the ideas will come.
Please don’t feed the plot bunnies.
Reality is fluid, but only for a moment.
Even still I put my pen to the paper
Not yet knowing what words will flow.
Thinking that once written, they will leave me be.
They don’t need any help!

Written for this week’s DungeonPrompt:

Also, in a it of an homage to a story that was supposed to be a one off several years ago, but then was fed by reviewers on another site. That story is still going strong and I wonder how it went from a short little introspective piece to an actual plot line.
