This is a serious issue all over the world.
We do need to talk about child abuse. It is not a pleasant topic and from my experience, most folks would rather NOT hear about it. I can see the body language, the facial expressions on many when sharing a story.
In fact, even when I was studying at Concordia University, in our Human Sexuality class, one evening, we had a guest speaker. She was a counsellor, working at a women’s centre. Her background was quite sad. She shared a bit about her childhood and what inspired her to further her education to become a counsellor.
