Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.
–USPS creed
Today I am grateful for the service of the United States Postal Service. Without them, my mother would not be able to send a Christmas present to her sister. Without them, my parents would not have been able to converse consistently with their parents while my father was serving overseas before they had a lot of children.
We often forget in this time of fast access through digital means that without the base to build from we would not find it as important to write to others, to communicate when not within walking or driving distance. Before we had computers or phones we had mail that came by car or plane or boat. Before we had cars and planes we had mail that came by horse and by boat.
So I am grateful not only for the USPS, but for the people that have worked within it since it was established.
Check out the original Thankful Thursday.
Very true! Great reminder to be thankful.
